Quantifying Bridge Element Vulnerability over Time
نویسندگان
چکیده
The bridge has been a crucial element of the transportation system U.S.A. for many years. National Bridge Inventory (NBI) reported more than 615,000 national bridges in 2018. Maintaining and fixing is task agencies to keep road network connected. Louisiana, which 12,899 bridges, was selected as study site this study. American Road Transportation Builders Association (ARTBA) 2019 that 13% all Louisiana were classified structurally deficient. This applies data mining algorithm, empirical Bayes geometric mean (EBGM) method, identify critical patterns inventory condition at level measure vulnerability, using NBI rating from 2015 It finds severe highly associated with following elements, regardless their structural importance: joints, “bridge rail timber,”“bearing other,” “superstructure floor beam reinforced concrete” elements. Poor elements like “top flange concrete,”“bearing movable,” concrete.” quantification scores developed could help engineers easily key or combination poor condition, so they can make data-driven decisions maintaining repairing most needed

Seismic Vulnerability assessment of concrete railway bridge using nonlinear analyses
Bridges, as an essential part of transportation system, play a special role in economy, politic and military all around the world. Serviceability of bridges is of high importance especially in emergencies, helping injured people and proportioning transportation after earthquakes. Earthquake regulation codes, normally suggest linear methods to conduct the analysis, and nonlinear analysis is bare...
متن کاملQuantifying crustal thickness over time in magmatic arcs
We present global and regional correlations between whole-rock values of Sr/Y and La/Yb and crustal thickness for intermediate rocks from modern subduction-related magmatic arcs formed around the Pacific. These correlations bolster earlier ideas that various geochemical parameters can be used to track changes of crustal thickness through time in ancient subduction systems. Inferred crustal thic...
متن کاملBayesian perspective over time
Thomas Bayes, the founder of Bayesian vision, entered the University of Edinburgh in 1719 to study logic and theology. Returning in 1722, he worked with his father in a small church. He also was a mathematician and in 1740 he made a novel discovery which he never published, but his friend Richard Price found it in his notes after his death in 1761, reedited it and published it. But until L...

*Correspondence to: Karel H.M. van Wely; Email: [email protected] The acquisition of massive but localized chromosome translocations, a phenomenon termed chromothripsis, has received widespread attention since its discovery over a year ago. Until recently, chromothripsis was believed to originate from a single catastrophic event, but the molecular mechanisms leading to this event are yet to ...
